Heavy Grain 7.62X39

I just got done reading the Guns and Ammo History of the AK mag and it is freakin' awesome!!! One of the articles was about unlocking the potential of the 7.62X39 and one of the suggestions was increasing the bullet weight. The idea was the heavier bullet would be very effective through a SBR, and accomplish alot of the tasks that agencies might require for that particular rifle. That got me wanting to try it out, heavy bullet, but I can't find load data anywhere! i am paticularly interested in the 180 grn realm because I have a buttload of those lying around. So, does anyone have a recipe for higher than 150 grn and/or any experience with the above idea?

I use Chineese 10 rounders and a promag waffle 10 rounder. The chineese milsup performs slightly better than the P-mag. STAY AWAY FROM NATIONAL MAGS! THESE SUCK AND WILL NOT FEED PROPERLY!!! I think Addax had the Chicom stuff.

I have loaded 150gr .308 diameter Hornady soft points for my AK pistol but nothing heavier.

I thought that the AK shot .311 not .308? Maybe my memory's off or my brain is full.

AK bullets are .310 in diameter same as the 54R. Loading .308 won't hurt the firearm though, just cut down on accuracy, but AK/accuracy not it's selling point. How did those shoot by the way?

My RCBS die set came with .311 and .308 expander balls so it's an easy switch. Accuracy was no worse than Wolf ammo at 50 yards.

7.62x54R uses a .312 diameter projectile.
