    Will ammo ever get cheaper?

As I'm sure you're all aware, two years ago I was paying 1/2 what I am now for a box of 50...whatever that 50 may be. So the question stands, even when demand falls off will the prices fall off as well?

My old man was telling me about how the last time CA sales/income/property taxes were increased it was suppose to be a "temporary" tax hike(myself being too young to remember). Long and short was it wasn't temporary...we all got used to the tax increase and nothing happened. Here we are now getting ready to become used to another tax increase. This analogy seems somewhat fitting, will the manufactures decrease prices after the demand drops or have we reached a point in which the manufacturers will feel we've gotten used to the price of ammo and decide to keep it where it's currently at?

Taxes will never go away, or down, until there's a revolution or something crazy like that.

Ammo prices, I think once the demand slows and the supply picks up, we'll start to see the price decline and sales on the stuff again.

Don't count on it in the near future.

Prices will come down somewhat if people will stop trying to stockpile 10,000 rounds of each caliber and ammo for guns they think they might own in the distant future.

But don't expect prices to fall to pre-2008 levels anytime soon. It seems China is buying a lot of copper as a currency base, instead of gold. It's not a bad strategy either. But that will increase the cost of jacketed and copper-washed ammo too. As well as increase the cost of brass (copper is an ingredient of brass).

Read this Telegraph.uk article on China's copper hunger.

In a word, no. Right now most of the gougers are resellers and/or small shops taking advantage of shooters paranoia. I am not paying any more now than before the Big 0 was elected albeit the supply is more difficult to come by. Hobbies are expensive and this includes the shooting sports.

I think it will come down after everyone has bought their lifetime supply and dont need to buy anymore.

I know 10 years ago some .223 was about 4 bucks on sale and i saw it drop to 2.75-3.00 on sale

I have a question for those who have seen ammo prices the last 30 years.
Some of you have said you never saw it go down
Have you seen it stay the same for a while? thats as good as go down.

If people would stop buying hundreds ,and thousands of rounds at a time all the time maybe just maybe it mite come down!
"I will not buy ammo from the private ammo sellers,it only encourages them to keep buying ,and reselling the ammo they bought from WAL-MART at 2-3 times what they bought it for"!
