has anyone ever broke a rcbs press?

I was resizing some 308 brass and I heard a snap. thought it was the decapping pin, but wen I looked on the floor I saw a green piece and then found where I came from.

already contacted rcbs and they are shipping out the parts. just wondered if anyone else has ever broken one?

I have a RCBS RCIV press. I have had this press since 1997 with no problems at all. Great press.

You can stress the press and break parts if you cam over a bit too much. The nice thing about RCBS is they will replace parts at no cost.

Use some better lube on your 308 brass.

No. Had my Rock Chucker since since the early 1980's. Done lots of 308 and 30-06 with no issues.

I was using one shot. its a RC 4 as well. never had issues before. maybe ill go back to the lube pad.

I know the masses praise One Shot, but I've never heard of more stuck cases than with guys using One Shot. For single stage rifle brass, nothing beats sizing wax. Hornady makes one as does Imperial. Get a little bit on your index and thumb, and apply a light coating to your brass. I've ran brass through the die 4-5 times (setting up the die type of thing) without having to relube. The lube comes right off when I throw the brass into the tumbler.

Post #5 to the tee. I have one for a long time and never a bit of trouble except for the primer loader. I had to replace that. RCBS is a great company.

Yep, good stuff. I've used both and they both work equally well. Before I use one shot I would use Crisco. My rock chucker is a older model and I have never seen one of the older ones broken, that's pretty much a new thing for a good press to break like yours did. I think a few years ago RCBS was having a bunch of them break, cast in China most likely. RCBS will probably fix it for you. If for some reason my RCBS goes south on me I'm going to get a Redding press.

I broke a RC2 a few years ago when I was swaging bullets.. Funny name RCBS.. Rock Chuck Bullet Swage..

I still have it.. have yet to return it to RCBS for service.

Iam a RCBS fan and I have contacted them. They are sending me replacement pieces. I knew they would. I do think the older ones were made a little better, kinda like a smith or colt from the old days. I will go back to the lube wax , I just hate no being able to load. It’s my relaxing thing.

I have a 1974 rock crusher and I think you could actually crush rocks with it without breaking it..

As for One shot, I use it all the time on 6BR full length sizing. I make sure I shake the can well, then spray the brass that is in a cardboard box. Flip the brass in the box like flipping sautee in a frying pan. Spray again and flip. Let dry for 5 or 10 minutes. Never had a stuck case in 20 years.

This is very likely or in combination with brittle cast steel. Lube choice is not the issue. One Shot is fine, you just have to use it properly. Spray and wait a few minutes. As for a better spray lube, Royal Case & Die Lube is excellent. I've used it for 20 years. I gave One Shot a try and came back to this. It's similar to a cross between spray lanolin product and silicone. Available from Midway USA. Imperial is still the best, just not as convenient.

More than twenty years after I bought it I had a problem with my press; RCBS replaced the parts no cost, no problem.
