Cheap Bastids Dillon 650 Primer Catcher Mod

Ever wonder why the Dillon 650 throws out spent primers? It happens about 1 out of every 20 or so. Well, I did. I went and watched the danged press to figure why it flies out like that.

My finding, the primer can be ejected out of the case with such force, that it bounces off the primer catcher assembly as the plastic will bounce it off. I'm too cheap to spend 20 bucks on the modded solutions, so I decided to do a 50 cent fix.

I got some sticky velcro, the fuzzy side, and stuck it on the primer catcher surface that the primer hits on ejection. The velcro absorb the ejection and lets the primer land where its supposed to. Voila! Cuts down on thrown primers 95%.

Let me know if anyone thinks of an even better material to dampen the primer hits.

I did the mod were a tube runs down to a bottle - used a cheap flanged pipe fitting for the adaptor - works a treat
