    quickload request 458 socom

    Hi,

Since quickload is usually used to see max pressure recipes I wanted to see if anyone could check a starting load to see if it is safe (since sometimes too little case fill can cause problems).

    458 socom
    16 inch barrel
300 grain jacketed hollow point such as remington
    seated to 2.02
    Winchester large pistol primer
    29.6 grains of VV N110

    Thank you.

Quickload won't tell you if a load is safe.
It just gives you raw calculations.

The powder manufacturer could probably advise you on minimum case fill safety for one of their powders though given these calculations:

    Code:
    Cartridge : .458 Socom
    Bullet : .458, 300, Remington HP
    Useable Case Capaci: 45.864 grain H2O = 2.978 cm³
    Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.020 inch = 51.31 mm
    Barrel Length : 16.2 inch = 411.5 mm
    Powder : Vihtavuori N110

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 1.634% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

      Thanks Randall.

I put in a request with the powder maker.
