Pistols: how much does bullet profile affect accuracy?

Most say how much contact is between the lands, grooves, and projectile?
Generally the heavier the projectile, the more contact, as they are longer:




However, generally, the heavier the projectile, the shorter the long-range impacts will be, but for SD/HD distances, they are all fine...

I only use factory ammo for my 9mm pistols. It seems to me that the Winchester Ranger RA9T ammo is more accurate than standard 115 gr FMJ ammo. My shooting team guys buy Ranger ammo in bulk and use it for the PPC matches.
