    Lead-Free Bullets?

Anyone have any tips on where to find lead-free bullets for reloading that won't break the bank? From what I've found, everything seems to be twice as expensive as lead bullets.

Specifically looking to reload 9x19mm and .223/5.56

What are they going to he used for. If you're not hunting, no need for lead free. If hunting, what? Makes a HUGE difference.

They're just going to be used for target shooting. I have a friend who owns land that I can shoot on, but the stipulation is that I use lead free bullets. I'm trying to see if this is cost effective, or if I just have to make the long haul out to BLM land.

Also need to know what caliber. If you are shooting a .223 Nosler Lead Free Ballistic Tips & Hornady NTX bullets are a very affordable alternative.

I take it is from the statement you know you can use lead to target shoot but it is the friend's request for lead free?

If you're shooting .223, Hornady NTX bullets run about 12 cents apiece more than Hornady's 55 grain FMJ and flat base bullets. For Noslers, the price differential is closer to 20 cents.

cheapest alone, best I have found are E-tip blems from SPS.

Best bang for buck, that's barnes bullets at full retail from our online shops. Reason being, E-tips aren't such a great value if the accuracy is poor. Barnes bullets just seem to work better for downrange precision.

                  As always, YMMV.

Since I cast, I have been meaning to try casting my own out of bismuth. One of these days...

Maybe it's time to bring back the lost art of casting zinc bullets.

I wouldn't bother loading lead free for target shooting, unless you're only going to fire a few rounds a trip. Make the drive.
