    Odd .22 Projectiles

    Have yellow box of .22 Projectiles with .224 & 55 gr. on the box also is that different than the ones for AR (.223) ?

    .224" is the correct diameter for .223 Remington barrels.

        a .224" is the diameter of the bullet, the .223 is the diameter for the barrel. In order for a bullet to be true and streight, they need that extra tight squeeze so gas doesnt pass the bullet while being pushed through the barrel. So, any .223 or 5.56 barrel that is in good condition can or should be able to shoot .224 dia bullets.

          You can buy .223 diameter bullets but they are designed for use on the older 22 Hornets that had .222 diameter bores. Speer bullets used to come in yellow plastic boxes.
