    25-06 from 30-06?

I have heard that you can neck down 30-06 shells to be used in a 25-06. Has anyone done this, what kind of troubles did you run into, and what dies were you using or what dies do i need. I am set upi with an RCBS rockchucker and have the 25-06 2 die set. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy

Can/has been done. You will need to neck turn the resultant cases to uniform the neck thickness. When you neckdown, it will have to be done in a couple of steps: .30cal to 7mm to 6.5mm to .257". At that final neckdown just neckdown enough to create a false shoulder that will barely close in your chamber. That will create a minimum headspace condition.

If you try to go from .30cal to .257" in one step, you'll get really uneven casenecks, overwork the brass and get some collapsed cases.
    Luck favors the prepared.

Thanks buffy not sure it will be worth it now if I have to buy all those dies to finish the process. But I will look into it.

If you want to risk it a bit, you could just neckdown once in the middle with a .270Win die. Might lose a few and would definitely need to be neckturned.

        .30/06 - .270Win - 25/06

        .270Win dies are quite common.
