    Independence M193 and Blown Primers?

My latest range session was a crappy one. With Independence 5.56 m193's that I bought a year or two ago, I had around half of about 30 or 40 rounds blow out it's primers. They jammed up my newly built rifle something awful. After a few failures, I took the mag apart and several primers fell out. WTF! I couldn't check all the spent brass because a range employee swept some of them up. But the ones I did check, half were missing their primers. I stop shooting the Independence and moved on to Fiocchi .223's and LC m193's and not a single problem.

I've searched the interwebs and it seems to be common enough phenomenon. But none had any info on solutions or outcomes in regards to whatever amount of ammo they had left. I have nearly a case and a half of this stuff from 2 different lots. Independence is made by IMI and contracted to Federal, or something like that. Who do I contact and what outcome should I expect? Do I just take the loss of nearly $500 of this potentially dangerous paperweight?

Yep, they pop up now and then. Couple threads here. Must have been a bad batch a couple years ago.

I called federal and got transferred to a guy name "Jeff". He said "oh this is the first I've heard of this you must just be unlucky". That is obiously not the case and I politely told him as much after which he offered to replace all of it.

When was this? Federal's warranty claim says 1 year after purchase. Was yours within that timeframe?

Warranty time period doesn't apply when they've sold a potentially dangerous product.

Thanks. That's very helpful. I'll be giving Federal a call.
