      I read the linked article and it is a nice example of a DOE for reloading that should make sense to a reloader. Much better than an example where the variables are unfamiliar.

      I've run many DOEs but could guess the result after seeing the variables that were included. Its often the variable you don't know about or can't control that is the important one. Missing a key variable is the downfall of DOE. I knew hand held vs "machine" held would not be one to leave out.

      I would have emphasized the value of the Taguchi method to reduce the number of experiments compared to a full factorial. In your experiment of 7 variables - tell that number vs the Taguchi number. To have confidence with a greatly reduced experiment size is the benefit of DOE.

        good stuff,

        now add SPC to your highest contributing variables, then you can fine tune your reloading setup based on your overall distribution, rather than initial spot checking and setup :P
