    Ballistic Supply

Anyone have first or second (or third) hand experience with this place?

They seem to have some fair prices and selection of S&W .500 and .460 ammo.

    Thanks

I bought 100 rounds of ammo from Bill and Leona last year.

They use Starline brass and quality powder. Their prices are very fair. Crimping, seating, bullet quality are all top notch.

They were in the process of, or have moved and had some family issues to deal with so it may require a little patience but they're super nice folks and a pleasure to deal with.

The descriptions of the cartridges are accurate, that 500gr Hornady is a monster.

Thanks, that's good to know. I think I may order a couple of their "sample packs" which would give me a few rounds of each.

That's exactly what I did. Two sample packs of everything from the reduced load to the 700gr thumper.

Accuracy suffers when you're touching off loads that vary so wildly. The 600 and 700 gr loads impact a good bit higher than the others.

After trying them all out, I went and bought a couple boxes of bullets from Leadhead bullets and started loading my own. Handloading drops the price down to $0.60 a cartridge but that's a bargain for what you can wield.

I love 'plinking' with the beast and hope to take it hog hunting one of these days. I may try loading some sabot rounds too. I'm really curious how fast I can push a .30 pill down the tube.

Called these people today. I got a recording that they are closed. The recording was kind of old because on it she states, "We will not open by Feb 20th as hoped" or something like that.

              Ballistics.net ammo

Great ammo and good selection. The 460 line is shut down, but they are looking at beowulf loads.
              They also have .50BMG.
Never had a misfire and the 50 round boxes make for a better deal than you can buy anywhere.
I have a S&W 500 with an 8 3/8 barrel, and shooting a 700 gr at an 8' railroad timber causes impressive movement.
I live in Central Texas and the 385XTP, or 500gr work great on 400lb hogs.
