    6.5 Creedmore recipe

Does anyone have a recipe that is a clone for Hornady's 143grn ELDX precision hunter?

I get real good sub MOA results with the factory ammo, and I was looking for a clone recipe as a starting point to hone it now that I'm going to reload for it.
    Thanks

Check the box? I read somewhere that the guys behind the 6.5 CM had an agreement with Hornady that they would print the recipe on the box. Of course that could have just been something that came to me in a dream...

^^^ there is load data on the box, but they use proprietary powders so.....

Anyway, found out on another forum that H4350 will be close enough to replicate the factory results, so I'm going to start there

I have good luck with really low SD and accuracy with 40-40.5g IMR 4551 with 140g bullets. It mirrors factor FPS in my rifle too.

RL 26 will get you up around PRC speeds. I'm pushing the 147s to 2,835 with no pressure signs.

FWIW my last load for my 6.5 CM using the Hornady 143 ELDX is a Hornady case a Rem 9 1/2 primer seated to 2.800 OAL with 42 gr of H 4350. This load took a small 2 point buck last season but it was under 100 yards and a little disappointing in the expansion part. Most of the 1/2 dozen guys I talk to about the ELDX in a 1/2 dozen different calibers were disappointed with the bullet break up. My load shoots very nice in my rifle be sure to work yours up. I have no idea what speed it's shooting and frankly don't care, it shoots and kills deer. I will not be using this bullet next season, something better is planned. HTH

Did you chrono the factory loads?

I would start out about 40.5 grains of H4350 like the Hornady load data suggests and mimic the length of the factory load. I use the Federal 210M but sometimes my friend will spring for the CCI BR2. You'll probably find a node about 41.5 grains - 42.5 grains. Seating depth and all that varies with the bullet and particular chamber.

Its an expensive hobby, but more expensive when you try and convince yourself you don't need what you really want.

I would start at 41gr of H4350 and head towards 42gr.
Depending on your barrel length, when you hit about 2750fps with a 22" barrel or 2800fps with a 26" barrel; you are in the sweet spot.

41.5gr of h4350 over 140gr ELDM shoots pretty good out of my 3 6.5 creedmoors.

^^^ Cypress, that turns out to be a well used recipe for Creedmoor guys, and it's what works best so far in mine. (Except I loaded 143grn ELDX)
                      Thanks for the input

Yes sir, that seems to be the magic. I can full length size and shoot the same ammo through any of my creedmoor s and it still shoots amazing.
