Are you supposed to lube the inside of the case neck when you lube your cases, or just the outside? Thanks.

Case lube question

Ideally, yes, you want to lube the inside of the caseneck to minimize drag on the expander ball. You can do this with a Q-tip with alittle lube on it. There are also neck brushes and dry mica lubes.Luck favors the prepared.

I use the one shot spray and it gets a little in the neck too.
I like this better than the lube pad deal i was useing before this.Comment

Lubing inside the neck is often not needed for smaller calibers like .223, but is essential for the bigger calibers like .340 WM. Otherwise, you run the risk of jaming a case and having to cut it in half to get it off the expander ball.
+1 for one-shot spray. I line up my cases in a checkerboard type tray and spray down ward on the mouths from four directions. That coats the inside and outside. Cuts lube time way down. Easy to clean off with a rag. I use it for all calibers.NRA Life Member

Neck Lube made easy
There is also a product called Imperial Dry Neck Lube Application Media.
It is a small, one ounce plastic cup with a dry media that, when you push
an open case neck into it...it coats the inside with a dry lubricant. It works, it
costs like 8 bucks or less and one little can will last a long time.

Imperial is great!
The Imperial Dry Neck Lube is powdered graphite. Very slick, somewhat messy, but easy to clean up. I also have become a big fan of the case lube as well. A little bit goes a LONG way. I load mainly .308 Win for an M14, so handling/inspecting each case before loading is a good thing. Case failures can be exciting......There is also a product called Imperial Dry Neck Lube Application Media.
