I goofed and sheared off the decapper on a Pacific die

These are old school Hornady dies, made by Pacific Dura Chrome.

I've had my Lock N Load press for almost 2 years without any casualties until today. I wasn't paying attention and short stroked the ram and sheared off the threaded portion of the decapper.

After close inspection there doesn't appear to be any damage inside the die. Now I'm just trying to find a replacement decapping bolt & pin assembly.

The size and pitch of the threaded rod is 1/2" diameter by 20 thread.

Anyone here ever been in this particular predicament? They're 38/357 dies.

I checked the Hornady website but they use a different decapper set up on the Hornady brand dies now.

This set is at least 30 years old and has done thousands of rounds and are still otherwise in good condition. I'd hate to have to buy a new set of dies.

    Any suggestions?

Call them. I had an old die and there were no parts. They just sent me a new die no charge.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

If it fits your die then it'll work.

Divernhunter, I considered contacting Hornady, but figured that since the dies don't actually show the Hornady name and visually look different than the current dies, they probably would say no.

I'll contact them and see what happens, nothing to lose I guess.

Tom-ADC, I just replied to you by PM, I should have checked this thread first now that I see you've included a pic.

My decapper looks like the bottom one (black) in your photo. When I get home later I can check to be sure.

I really appreciate your generous offer, but I may as well take a chance and contact Hornady first and see if they offer a replacement part. If they say no, I'll give you a shout. Thanks for the reply and offer.

Just got off the phone with Dustin from Hornady Customer Service.

No replacement parts availability for any Pacific Durachrome dies. No warranty available either.

Personally, I'd get a new carbide sizer die, skipping the need to lube.

Yup, works just fine. Big thanks to Tom-ADC for hooking me up and getting me back in business.

I agree, this is a carbide set. If it had been a non carbide sizer I'd have switched it out from the get go.
