    9mm rifle loads

Let's talk about 9mm! Specifically, I am looking for your loads for 9mm in an AR. What works good, what have you tried, etc.

You will want to use the slowest powder that will work. The bad news is, with the 9mm you don't have much capacity so you may only get a minimal increase in velocity.

With cartridges like the .357 and .44 magnums, in a carbine length barrel, it is common to see 300-400 fps increase in velocity when compared to a pistol length barrel.

I the case of the .45 ACP, some loads may actually come out from a 16 inch barrel slower than that of a 5" barrel.

That makes sense. I was shooting some light pistol loads yesterday and it ran good, but wanted to see what others have tested before I start developing a load from scratch

        My AR9

I used Blazer brass 9mm and WWB 9mm and they both worked fine.

115 gr bullet 5.7 gr of power pistol works good in all my 9mm. AR and Uzi love it.

              Alliant PowerPistol

That is the name of the type of powder he is using.

In my experience with carbine 9x19mm loads, a heavy charge of AA7 or Alliant BlueDot can get a 125gr bullet out to over 1500fps from a 16" barrel.

With 357Mag using a 158gr HC and a casefull of H110 will give 2000fps from a 20" barrel (Marlin 1894). Really changes the character of that round, makes it the equivalent to the original 30WCF.

Thanks, that sounds kind of exciting to be able to shoot 1,500 out of a 16" barrel. Ny thing is being able to use it for an AR and a pistol as well if my friend is cool with using my hand loads

Those loads are going to produce quite a FIREBALL when fired out of a pistol length barrel. AA7 and BlueDot are abit too slow for short barrels. One of the optimum powders for short barrel use is Alliant PowerPistol.
