Help Me Pick a New Turret Press

Time to step up from the Rock Chucker.

I'm looking at the RCBS turret press; Lyman Brass Smith 8 Station turret press; or the Redding T-7; Not really considering the Lee 4 hole turret, but the auto indexing on the Lee is a nice feature.

anyway, for those that have experience or more knowledge than I do on turret presses, you input would be greatly appreciated.

I like my T7. Quite the tank. Can hold several calibers at once depending. Can get a bit crowded for lock ring access and such. I don't use the priming system. I batch process with it. No auto-indexing required.

I vote for the Redding T7. I own one and like it a lot!

Another vote for the T7.
Sort of a modified batch process.

I deprime & resize, index to the flare step and seat new primer.... drop them into a container.
Come back later to drop my powder charge (not on the press) then put back on the press to seat the projectile.

Not the only way, but works for me.

I dont like turrets at all. At all. But if I did, the best ive used so far is by a wide margin the T7.

Not a turret guy so get a Dillon and the 650 is a great unit.

I have a lee loadmaster - 5 stations .
I deprime and prime pistol off press then clean .
I deprime and size rifle on press then clean .
Start looking for more dies - most come in sets of 2 , 3 or 4 dies .
My next press will be another loadmaster - I already have extra
extra die holders .
whatever you get , get extra die holders .
Lee stocks most calibers - check when ordering - others are
back ordered unless a popular caliber .

If I were stuck to a turret I wouldn't consider any but the Redding T7. That said I'm either single stage or progressive so if I were you I'd hang onto the rock chucker and order a Dillon 650.

if you want "speed" to load pistol rounds rapidly then get a progressive press- and if it is progressive you want that means go blue, AKA Dillon press 550 or 650, (but the red Hornady is pretty good as well)

If you want very little variance in rifle cartridge OAL then get a Redding T-7 or just batch load with your single stage.

I have the Lee Turret Press, and it is a good press and cheap enough to get into reloading... However I find myself only using the turret feature with pistol ammo. I have been looking into the T7 and I think it's a good choice as a lot of other people have already stated.

I was debating between a T7 and getting a Dillon 550 and using it like a Turret Press. I ended up getting the T7 and 30k rounds later bought a Dillon 650. However I wish I had bought a Dillon 550 instead of the T7.
