New load for the Win Mdl 70

New 180 gr. hunting load for my Winchester Mod. 70 30-06. I think they will hunt. Work your own loads up don't use mine, got to say that. The 57 gr load is what I settled on. Cases in the box L to R 57.5 far right then 57 and count down one gr per line. No signs of pressure.

New .300 RUM load, same disclaimer. Top left then top right, top L=96 gr. H1000 top right=97&98 gr. H1000 150 gr. Barns TTSX. Two at top right are the 97 then the 98. These might hunt for antelope or such.

And fast to, wolves are bigger than goats. I still hunt where they live I take no chances with those things.

        Elk Hunter:

What 300 Rum do you have? I purchased a Montana Arms 300 Rum last year and I am just starting to work up loads with it.

I plan on Shooting the Barnes 175 LRX. I've had very good luck with the Barnes in other rifles.

Please share any loading information you have, feel free to PM me if you don't want to post it here.

My .300 RUM started out as nothing more than a Remington SPS plane Jane 700. It still has the X Mark trigger, something that will change when I get around to it. Bolt is a PT&G large rotary fluted with the large M16 type extractor. Boyds urban camo stock (I think that's what they call it. Longer mag box and took a little off the bolt stop to let that come back some more to seat long bullets out farther. I had it threaded for a Holland MB but took it off it was giving me headaches by the 3-4th shots. It does have a limbsaver or something like it (it's soft) on it.

I have never shot a MT rifle but I have looked at a lot of them I just cant see the money. Shedhorn in Ennis MT has the MT rifle company at their annual show, I used to go to that and look. They are purdy rifles for sure and their purdy proud of em.

I thought I was about the only one that posts here that has anything to do with a .300 RUM I posted about them before and got almost nothing in reply. I've never tried the LRX bullets so no help there. If I can find a picture of my 700 I'll post it again, not much to look at.

              Very nice!

I helped a friend set up his MT in 300wm, 2nd or 3rd group measured .480"

I have only had time to break in the barrel and do some starting test loads. So far I am happy.

Everyone e told me I need a muzzle brake, nope, not needed! Yes. You know you've shot something, but I think a 7mag is worse, nice big push.

I will keep in touch to share load results.
