    Loose primer pockets PPU BRASS

Am using PPU 7.62x39 to form grendel brass for plink ammo. Uses large rifle primers. Primer seems to seat "ok" in virgin brass. Not tight and not loose. Once fires brass seems too loose. I've tried different brand primers and they are all the same. Is there a way to save this brass or is PPU junk?

Why not just buy hornady (or other) grendel brass?

PPU brass seems soft and doesn’t last. Load and save them as shtf fodder.

I have genuine grendel brass, just wanted to burn through these first.

OP, I'm new to reloading, so I've been doing a ton of reading. I read that PPU brass conforms more towards NATO specs and that's why the prime pockets are a little larger. I don't recall the primers used, but I know they are out there.

You might try Wolf primers, they seem to run a little fat

I reload plenty of PPU, with stout (but not max loads) in 7mm-08 my primer pockets seem to go in 4 or 5 firings. The Hornady brass so far just keeps going; but I have a lot of PPU.

Might as well use the PPU until you use it all up and decide to buy another batch of something else.

I agree with trying wolf / Tula primers ... they always feel tight compared to others . What load are you using ?

I quit using PPU 10mm brass after several issues with neck tension.

                    Wolff appears to be discontinued

Pretty sure the wolf primers are on the trade embargo, until that's lifted we ain't getting them.

I’ve loaded PPU grendel brass and the cci 200 fits fine. PPU is softer than hornady though.

I have a similar problem with my 7x57, but only with magnum primers and takes 3-4 firings. So I use it and it's fine.

                          If it's loose after 1x, I dunno...

I'll second the PPU/CCI 200 combo. I use that mix in a few calibers for plinking loads and it works well enough.

I had same experience with PPU Grendel brass. Very loose pockets and only got maybe 1-3 loads. Quit while youre ahead and buy some Lapua brass.
