    LAX Hollow Point Ammo

Do any of you have any experience with the LAX brand of hollow point 9mm ammo? The price is attractive and I am tempted to pick some up. . What are your thoughts?

I've bought the generic and Hornady versions of LAX ammo, reman and new. The generic bullet ammo was crap, the XTP (IIRC) was not bad. The no name stuff was very anemic and is the only ammo I've ever tried that my Glock 19 had trouble digesting.

Good information -I did not realize they had more than one type (other than various grains). Thank you

i have never shot it myself but a friend i shoot with had nothing but issues with their house brand stuff through a glock 17. I figured if a glock won't reliably feed and spit it out, i wouldn't want to shoot it.

But that has been many years ago. Not sure if there stuff is any better now.

The non-HP generic was reliable for me too, OK for just plinking or general range time IMO.

Yes, I use the non hollow point at the range and had not had any issues but, I was not sure if the hollow point was any good.

I wouldn't spend the extra $ for anemic hollow point ammo.
Are you training? or just plinking?

I would not use their HP ammo for SD.

If you're just plinking, buy cheap plinking ammo. If you're training, buy hot FMJ's that mimic a real decent HP load. Then you train with the recoil you'd be getting from good SD ammo.

Many of us that reload, will use this method.

Thanks for the info. I mainly plink but thought if this would also be decent self defense ammo, it might be worth picking up. You are right though... i should probably buy higher quality self defense ammo and save the inexpensive stuff for plinking

i agree. they have decent prices on HST and at ~$0.50/rd, not too much to save my life.

of course, i'm not shooting more than a mag of HD ammo on range days.

The brass is very nice, supposedly made by Starline...
