in a SHTF situation and my ammo is all gone, this would be good to know.... Matches, a small rock as a bullet...

It is not that hard I kind of just took a few primers apart and did as shown. Too bad I do not have a 9mm to shoot them with Well I still need to cut up some matches, kind of a long process but hey it is a once fired primer. I wonder if it really pushes as good a factory primer? One thing I did notice was the anvil sometimes snaps or breaks apart when trying to get them out. Fun stuff

              Yeah, really...

Even though they're expensive right now, I think I'll keep buying the factory stuff...

...but yeah! Certainly a "good to know".

The Sioux tribes at the battle of the "Little Big Horn" used matches for primer and propellant.

The line that I took note of was "... reasonably assume that this would ignite a charge." Makes me wonder if he's ever done it "for real".

I read an account of a guy claiming he and his dad used this to keep meat on the table during WWII when primer / ammo supplies were non-existant. He noted it was a VERY time intensive prospect and was not 100%, but that it worked more often than not.

I don't see me using this anytime soon, but it could be handy information someday.

I was thinking that same thing.
Just for fun, take a REAL primer and fire it at an index card 3" from the muzzle.
Make sure you are wearing eye and ear protection.
You will be really suprised how powerful a real primer is...

I've shot a primer in a case I did not notice was cracked, this one on my second time of reloading too. It was cool it was just a little louder then a cap gun, just a standard LP. Also had to use a punch for my 2nd round which was my very first completed round of reloading ever. I did not have the die set to the right depth and the bullet seated about 1/2 way down the case So my brother stuck it in the vise and punched it with a hammer, it was loud enough to make my left ear ring for a few minutes We were in our basement which is a workshop / storage area
