Primers do matter

I think I found another good hunting load or two. The Rem 9 1/2 primer is best. The rifle has definite likes and dislikes. TTSX loads all stack in fair to.

Part of what your looking at is 3 of the 4 primers tested, CCI200, Fed 210, Winchester large rifle standard and Remington. Load data is the same for all as is seating depth, case, the dies used, bullets are from the same box powder is from the same can all brass is from the same package. The 3 under the tape at the top center are the Winchester primers. It's easy to see the difference a primer can make. The ink line above the 2 inch red dots is at 2 inches high from center of red dot. The 3 Swift loads suck to say the least, more work needed. The Barns as usual shot good with 2 different powder weights printing almost the same. The rifle of course is the same rifle except for the bottom left 3 shot triangle and that's a factory load out of a 7X57 Mauser. Wind 7-15 G out of the North North West 38 degrees. That little wind doesn't affect these calibers much if at all at these distances. Now you know the rest of the story (Paul Harvey). We will be deer and elk hunting by Saturday.

I started buying CCI 400’s and 200’s due to being a big fan of CCI standard velocity 22LR ammo, mini mag 22LR, and their cheap brass cased 9mm (marked blazer).

Have used Remington and Winchester primers in the past, never really noticed a difference in gas operated rifles with iron sights. I just stick to CCI because I like other CCI products TBH.

Glad to see you got good results, I’m planning to eventually move into the 21st century and get a modern scoped rifle, maybe I will notice a difference after that. I only have 1 rifle, out of 20+ that has a scope. I only have 2 that have optics of any sort so I don’t reallt notice small deviations.

Primers can matter, but in my exp they dont show much of a change in my groups. Usually a little velocity. Glad it worked for you, gave you an edge.
