    primers not available?

i hope that this is in the proper forum
is there a problem in the production of small arms primers in general?
is there some kind of government involement causing a shortage?
is everyone buying them up so fast that there is a problem?

it just seems strange that there does not seem to be any to get.

I think demand is higher then supply. It's not just primers. Reloading supplies in general along with loaded ammo. Several reasons, the election, military needs. Perhaps things will even out soon....

There was another thread with an article from an ammo manufactor saying that demand is extra high and they were not planning on hiring additional help because demand is sure to fall once the paranoia wears off. They also said there is no shortage of material and they are running their plant 24x7. I guess nice for the people that wouldnt have to be laided off but sucks for everyone waiting.

Just started to realod with a simple hand press, I just now got into 9mm and was able to get a good deal on processed and primed 9mm just looking for powder and bullets now. I think I have the bullet problem solved, just need powder

What kills me is that ammo is going up so high and demand is still higher then supply I wonder if and when it will all burst? I am glad I was able to stock up on factory loads around Nov/Dec and do not have to be gouged too much now. To make it worse I do not even have a 9mm to shoot it from yet, he he. 9MM AR Conversion is in the works for me, I know it's a bad time to get into the upper scene now

Not to pile on or anything, but TAC is in stock at both Grafs and Midway and has been for a while. Here's Grafs for 129 shipped for 8lbs:

Graf & Sons, the reloading authority, has a wide selection of reloading supplies, shooting supplies, ammo and more.

Somehow I do not think that is the shipped price, more like 156.00 after haz mat. While Powder Valley may not pick up the shipping for you, they are $11.00 per 8lb jug cheaper too so depending upon how much you buy it might actually be cheaper to go through them.

                        Yeah, forgot about hazmat.

The moral of the story is, TAC's widely available which is why I chose it to start reloading with.

I e-mailed Powder Valley and they want $19.00 to ship 50 lbs. Over 50lbs. and it is another $22.00 Haz Mat fee. This is why guys jump on the group buys when they present themselves, this way we can split the shipping and Haz Mat. Powder is still more or less available depending upon what you want but primers appear to be pretty much non-existant.
