Reusing dented 223. brass

Is is recommended that 223 brass which is dented not be reused? The dent looks worse in the photo but it's definately dented.

No harm in reloading. My Saiga dents the case, too. As do all AKs I'm pretty sure. Mini 14s crimp the mouth too, I believe. The mouth gets fixed when you resize, and the side doesn't matter much.

Random fact, the dent is caused by hitting the side of the bolt when the case is ejected at a ridiculously high speed. Look up some slow motion videos on YouTube.

You can reload it...

Re-sizing it might not take the dent out but it will correct itself the next time you fire it. (unless you saiga dents it again)

What they all said. Some of the dent will come out in the sizing, but when you chamber it and fire, the casing will form fit the chamber and the dent will disappear.

After re-sizing, if it passes case gage check, it's fine

If it doesn't try rotating it a 1/4 turn and re-size a few times.

My PSL not only dent it, it will also leave a scratch mark. Perfect for keeping track of the # of times it's been reloaded! Very few live pass 6 marks...

That's from a failure to extract.

I've had similar dents created by a bad 10/20 pmag. The previous round is ejected properly, but the tilt is off and the bolt slams into the side of the casing.

Correct, but those cases will still have the bullets in them when you take them out of the gun.

If you fire them WITH the dent, the dent dissappears.
