    AR 9mm load

I did a search and did not find much on this. Does anyone have a suggested load bullet/powder combo for an ar9. I am running a 14.5" barrel with a muzzle break. Just wondering if I would make loads differently than my 9mm pistol.

I reload for my 9mm AR. Lyman and Hornady have 9mm loads specific to rifles. One of the warnings is to not go below listed starting charges due to risk of a bullet lodged in the bore.

I've had many people tell me I need to use a slow burning powder like Blue Dot for 9mm rifle. I've used slow stuff like Blue Dot and fast powders like AA2 and W231. Honestly speaking, they shoot pretty much the same. I had chronograph data, but I lost it. Next time I head to the range, I'll chronograph loads again in rifle and pistols for comparison.

The loads I use were great loads in my pistols and were pulled from published reloading manuals or manufacturer data. One of my favorites in my 9mm AR is AA2 with Berry's 124gr plated roundnose. Was getting consistent hits on an E- Type military silhouette out to 225 meters, but nothing farther. We started at 100 meters and kept moving back until hits were no longer consistent. This wasn't a hot load, I think it is about a tenth of a grain above minimum published, but I did have to seat the bullet deeper for feeding in my weapons. My AR takes Stent mags, so I settled on 1.135" Although the load is safe in my rifle and pistols, I make no claim for anyone elses weapons. You will have to pull published data and work up safely.

My AR-9 prefers the Winchester White Box ammo from Walmart, suggest you mimic that load.

Dependent on your firearm... make sure you have a snug crimp.

And here is a crud load ( 129 different factory rounds ) of velocities from my 16" Colt Pattern AR

129rds tested so far... As always... YMMV... so please view my carbines data as just my results... the same barrel, under the same conditions, so as to eliminate variables, .... your carbine might be

Thanks for the link. getting ready to build one. Just to burn down the 1000s of 9mm reloads and components I have lying around. Also a good use for my grandfathered 33 round Glock mags.

I have good luck with titegroup under 115gr RN bullets from xtreme. 3.8gr of TG seems to be the magic charge. Anythong more than 4gr and you start to see over pressure signs. I have a 16" upper on my AR9.

Just be aware that while I can get good accuracy out of this load, running TG in a long barrel will make it unfathomably filthy. Like the devils soul filthy. My handguns are relatively clean after running the same 9mm load through them but something about that powder in long barrels makes them dirty.

i'm looking for load recipes as well for my 9mm pcc. i heard the goal is to get under 1600fps (power factor >150) with low recoil/dot bounce. hearing that 147g bullets and slow powders work best for this.

Cross-posting as there seems to be 2 of the same threads floating out there right now. FWIW, this was a Ruger PC Carbine, not AR9 but it should be very close.

Curious, why such a short COL?

                        Greta info though.
