thinking about reloading for glock

I just got a glock 22 which is .40, and i was thinking about getting into reloading for it, but i started reading about how once fired from glocks the brass is bulged out at the bottom, and that makes its unsafe to reuse.
does anyone reload for glock who has insight on this?

Bulging 40 brass from a Glock was true in some of the early Glocks. It is not true of current production Glocks. The chamber dimensions were changed. Those original 40 barrels had very marginal case support. The problem was reloading for those early guns, not that the brass was unusable. That brass sometimes needed extra care to get rid of the bulge. I never had that problem myself.

It has been my experience that you're going to get at least 10% of your cases budged enough to affect future chambering

Gen 3 is fine. As others have said, on the off chance you encounter some from random range brass that you pick up, there’s easy ways to remove it. Or just toss those because range brass is cheap.

I reload for my (9mm) glock, and I shoot, sweep, shoot, sweep, etc. I put around 50k through it a year. No issues. I think the unsupported chamber issue is more of a .40 think than (specifically) a glock thing.

It took me hours to get a load I was happy with .
This was for 2 cop guns , they brought their own brass .
After figuring out what the glocks wanted , it went O K .
Then it was one shot to left and other was to high .
I would adjust the sights . I know my gun and shoot it fine .
Someone else picks it up - Oh well .

I have a Gen 2 (LEO trade in) model 22 that I load for. For reloads I use a KKM barrel that has more support and load both jacketed and lead. Although the chamber is tighter than the stock barrel, I've never had a need to use a bulge buster die and virtually all of my brass is range pickup. For this caliber my dies are RCBS.

When they went on sale over the holidays, I got a 9mm conversion barrel from the glockstore for it (no other changes). Am also loading both jacketed and lead. No issues here either. Using Lee dies for the 9mm.

I just use the Dillon dies for my 650. I have never had any issues resizing 40 brass from a Glock. I use Hornady One Shot lube for PISTOL brass. I don't think I can tell the difference resizing Glock fired brass and other pistol fired brass. If your press gives you fits resizing Glock fired 40 brass, then get the Lee Bulge Buster.

just finished sorting about 4k cases of once fired 40.

definitely some of the cases with the worse bulges were not fired from a glock(no square firing pin mark on the primer).

was able to resize them back to spec with a lee FCD, with the bullet crimp removed

Cases are going to expand but expansion is not necessarily an unsafe bulge. If you see a half-moon shaped crease at the bottom then it’s an unsafe bulge. But if the case is expanded evenly to match the diameter of the chamber then it’s ok. What you don’t want to see is sharp lines.

I thought about reloading for my glock(s)...I already have the setup for rifle, so I figured why not. Then I thought it through and decided to get a 357 mag GP100, I’m getting older and I’m not going to chase brass around. My kids are not quite old enough to be brass rats yet. Ruger it is.

Me too, but on a 550. My only .40 is a Glock 22, early Gen 3. Any brass I find has been good to go just using regular old Dillon dies. I might have thrown out less than ten pieces of badly bulged brass over the years. Definitely not the issue some make it out to be.

Oh, I also shoot lead out of a factory barrel so I must be crazy
