Problem With Powder Loading

The charging die may be screwed in too far and damaging the brass. The brass only needs to go up into the die far enough to operate the powder drop. It looks like it operates the powder drop and is still being pushed up farther.Originally posted by NOMADCHRISyour asking a question about asking a question ??? just ask the damn question!!!Comment

First pic. That case is done. It ain't the neck ding either. You've got something majorly wrong going on. Looking through the lee instruction you understand that you need to use the Powder measure rise when using a turret press?
You don't see anything wrong here??

I have tried to reinstalling the dies this morning.
The arm actuator will not perform a full move to drop the powder. It goes about halfway. Adjusting it to where it will, causes the brass to be damaged, although this time just at the lip. No crimping elsewhere.
And if someone wants to smack my head, I probably deserve it.

Not knowing anything about Lee gear, I'd say you need to try the shorter bushing and thats if you are using the riser,Comment

I'm having a similar problem with a new rifle charging die that I bought from Lee.
When I adjust the die like all of my other charging dies it doesn't allow the arm on my powder charger to travel far enough to drop the charge.
I suspect Lee has shipped a bunch of these dies out with the wrong size insert in the die. I am going to return mine soon.
I would troubleshoot it more thoroughly but my garage is roasting, plus this is my busy time of year for work.
Best of luck,

The problem is not the Lee charging dies in general. I have at least 8 of them mounted on turrets for my different presses. They all work as advertised.
I just bought a new one when I decided to add another caliber to my reloading bench. That is when I noticed a problem.
Without further troubleshooting I am guessing. But like I said I have a work around until my garage/reloading room cools off and my work slows down.
I have a Uniflow. I also have a few Lymans and a Harrel.Comment
