      Thanks @Scotty99!

I definitely have a bit of the shank still exposed on these rounds. Photos attached.

May have nothing to do with your issue, but, it looks like you still have a bit of flare at the case mouth. Are you crimping these?

Why is it that people think you can’t take data for some other 200 gr bullet and use that? What the hell is wrong with you guys just load the damn ammo make sure it fits in the mag and call it good.

I could crimp a bit more. It’s taper crimped to .470 at the moment. The case fits in the chamber and bullets don’t set back after cycling through so I’m not sure if that’s the issue - worth a shot though.

If I shorten the OAL on these 5.3gr loads to 1.260 would there by any issues? Seems like that should be safe.

This round will cycle through my TRP (manual cycling), and passes the plunk test in my Wilson but appears not to fully chamber in the assembled weapon - it is also difficult to eject.

Does anyone have a good recipe for W231 with this style of bullet ...
Are you using the X-Treme Plated Bullets?

When I do the 'plunk test' I always use my Gold Cup barrel because it has tighter tolerances. You don't need to do the 'manual cycling' thing because if the 45 ACP round passes the 'plunk test' and fits into the magazine, it is good to go.

I prefer 5.6 grains of W231 with the 200 grain bullet

All the 5+ recommendations sound good to me.
But I sure would invest in a case gauge, quality USA made case gauge.
Compared to a quality hard cast or true FMJ bullet, I am convinced that all plated bullets are made at the 'Fer-Chet' factory in France.

Some W231 powder lots are treated with an anti flash formula. Keep good records.

I am not sure if the brand, purchased these from Everglades ammo since the price was right and they offer free shipping.

Good to know re: the plunk test. I still want the round to be able to be ejected easily in case I need to unload the pistol.

Anyway, I worked up a few test loads based on the advice here. 5.2gr 231 at 1.165 COAL shot great for a target load and cycled well in both guns.

                      Thanks for all the responses!
