LabRadar Now Bluetooth Functional

Just got this e-mail that the LabRadar chronograph now has a new firmware upgrade and bluetooth app to allow phone connectivity. Also, LabRadar is on sale.

Labradar Bluetooth App Now Available

Download the new firmware v1.2.0 by following the link below. The latest firmware will enable the Bluetooth connectivity on you LabRadar device.
Android App is avilable on Google Play, Apple iOS will be available on the App Store within the next few days!

Directions for Labradar App Download/Connectivitiy
1. Go to http://www.mylabradar.com/download.php,
2. Select: Labradar Firmware v1.2.0 (EN) Mobile App Ready.
3. Copy the FWA and FWB files to a SD card (or use the USB cable method), Do not put the files in any folder.
4. Insert the SD card in your Labradar and turn it on.
5. On your Android Device, make sure your location service is enable.
6. Download the Labradar App from Google play to your device.
7. Don't pair your Bluetooth device to the Labradar, in order to use the app just connect to your Labradar from within the mobile app.

I am waiting to check it out, too. That remote functionality will be nice. No messing with trigger button and possible loss of alignment. Also, I want to how/if it plots the tracks. That will be very helpful to see if anything is wrong.

Did you register your LR with them? I think they had some issues, so some folks had to re-reg.

I used the iPhone app today and it was great. Much better interface than the buttons.

I Love my Labradar and the free app makes it even better. Very cool they thought ahead and added bluetooth before they could support it.

Today Barnes 140 grain factory was averaging around 1325 fps from a 4 inch Model 28 Smith, and Hornady 158 grain factory was around 1200 average. I measured a full box of each load today.

Recoil from the Barnes 140 grain load was much lower felt recoil, despite very similar energy. This is the first lead free handgun round that seems better than older loadings of .357 magnum.

One Barnes round was only 1100 fps, and felt like it.

Late to the party, but Android version 1.2.1 came out a couple of days after 1.2.0 was released. I didn't see any difference between the two; I, like a lot of others had pretty bad connection issues with both versions. Haven't used it, or checked for newer updates, since the release of 1.2.1.

Haven't heard how the Apple app works.

I tried it this weekend, using v1.2.2. Still having issues with bluetooth disconnecting. somewhere between a 10-shot series the bluetooth disconnects, and it's getting worse. I couldn't get my phone to reconnect after power cycling the lab radar unit. closing and opening the app didn't help. it was hit or miss.

luckily i had a 2nd android device i used to connect. but same issues. Not sure if muzzle blast from my brake causing it to disconnect. Even after moving the LabRadar foward (5" foward of the rifle), i was still getting disconnect issues.

i can somewhat deal with it disconnecting, but not being able to re-connect was driving me nuts

DDRH; have you tried disabling and reenabling Bluetooth on your device? Just curious; I need to try that on my next Chrono-equipped outing. I suspect the device gets confused on what it's connected to, since nothing I do to the LR has any effect.

Yes, i turned on/off bluetooth on both devices. The LR would eventually connect, but i didn't enjoy spending time trying to connect it. I have a few more android devices i can try. Will report back if i get a chance.

I emailed LabRadar, and got a quick reply. Good customer support. They are looking in to it. They asked what phone/devices i'm using and what Android/IOS versions too.

Also, dropped them a few tips to hopefully make the LabRadar a bit more robust for field use.

Oh and USB-C!!!!!!!! micro USB sucks!
