Light loads not burning well. I experience similar with 5.2 gr. HS-6 under 124 gr. RN FMJ the wife shoots out of her 26. They won’t cycle my 17 or 92fs or P85...

Where did you get this data from?

Even using lead data, hodgdons website shows 4.9-5.4

        Jacketed is 5.3-5.9

          Just trying things out.

Hornady book shows 4.7-5.9 for 115 fmj

Sorry they are plated not jacketed.

Again, even using lead data you are well below the MINIMUM charge

I'm confused...if the Hornady manual lists the range as 4.9 to 5.9, then why are you loading below that range? And why are you surprised that those low charges aren't working out?

I have a buddy that had great success with CFE Pistol. Excellent groups, total tack driver loads. He was closer to the mid-high end of the load spectrum though.

Of course its dirtier. It's a slower burning powder and you're using a less than minimum charge. To burn clean you need to up the charge so it can build enough pressure to burn cleanly. :faceplam:

CFE is a good and very versatile powder, however I do find it a bit dirty as well. I run 5.6gr for my 115s and the cases will come out sooty, almost scorched. But if its plentiful, reasonably priced, meters well and I can use it in all my pistols, I'll take a bit of soot any day.

                            I load 5.4g with 115g projectiles ... yeah it’s a bit dirty but accuracy is good .

                              5.4 for me.

                              Less is dirty for me.
