    30 Carbine

Looking for 30 Carbine loaders. My question is, what trimmer do you guys find works the best and easiness for the 30 carbine case?

Another question is' do you guys feel its better to crimp your loads? If so, do you use a tapper or roll crimp?

    Thanks everyone.

I use the Lyman EZ trim with a drill adapter. I don't crimp per se, I just make sure there's no "bell" on the mouth. Since it headspaces on the mouth, a very slight taper if you must. If it's for the Blackhawk revolver, I guess you could do either.

I used a wilson sinclair trimmer the other week to trim all mine.

A forster trimmer with 3 way cutter would also work very well. Both with drill attachments.

While I use the Forster trimmer I do need to run the cases into the bell die before the pilot bushing will enter the case easily.

Also note that there is a need to be very consistent when operating the trimmer handle as far as the amount of pressure applied. Also be sure to fully seat the case into the collet.

Too much pressure on the handle can result in shorter cases and too little they are not trimmed enough. It does take some practice and patience.

As stated there is only a slight taper crimp applied to the case. Just enough to remove the belling.

I also find the need to seat bullets slightly deeper if loading soft nose lead. This will help prevent the bullet nose from hanging up in the magazine.

I don't reload 30 Carbine. But for me, I don't crimp any auto-loading cartridge. I simply remove the bell and call it good. Of course, I test fit them in the chamber and judge the bell removal by the ease in which the cartridge falls in.
