Blemished Bullets?

Now, I don't mean to be a "bullet snob" but is this really a good idea?

I've never used them, so I don't know but is it really worth the savings to buy bullets that you know to be defective...

sure, depending on what you are using them for, blasting?, a cosmetic flaw or an included cannelure groove that wasn't called for, for a third of the normal price is smokin.

For most bullets, the blemish consists of slight discolorations in the jacket or the addition of a cannelure

Blemish is asthetics, hell I get a lot of blemished casings at the range.
I clean them and if not clean enough, I sort and load them for my Golani(this thing just ****s up casings....)

If you're gonna buy casings for plinking load yeah it's worth the savings but for matches, save for the good ones....

Bent tips don't do anything. A messed up base would be bad.

I've shot a ton of Nosler 2nds. They work pretty darned well.

I've shot the seconds and couldn't tell the difference from firsts based on my visual inspection, calipers, and group sizes at the range.

Come on, I bet more animals have been killed with the Partition than any other bullet over the last 50 years. Those "seconds" must be pretty good.

Nothing wrong with blems. They shoot just like top of the line stuff. You can hardly even see most of the stuff manufacturers are finding as their "blems." Except for non-specified cannelure grooves, a little tarnish here or there doesn't cause much difference in bullet flight. And ones with added non-specified cannelure grooves can be used for plinking ammo, no problem.

I have purchased "seconds", bullets with cosmetic blemishes at local gun shows and have never had a problem.

The last time I bought "blem" bullets from Midway, I had to use a magnifying glass to find where the blemish might be. They are good!

I've used Berry's seconds before for plated pistol and they were totally fine - but mind you, this was for pinking.

It's amazing how many otherwise educated shooters, can't understand or won't accept this concept! All it takes is a small nick in the base and the bullet will not fly where you want it to. On the other hand, you can screw up the tip and even the bearing surface of a bullter pretty good and still get it to shoot better than a lot of factory bulk ammo.
