Load data request for RDF 140gr Creedmoor

Anyone have some loading data on using 140gr Nosler RDF's,Lapua SR 6.5 Creedmoor brass and H-4350. I haven't had the results that I'm hoping for yet with the RDF's so I thought I'd ask. Thanks

Seat the RDF as long as possible...They are not a length tolerant bullet.

Conflicting, because I keep hearing that they like to jump(.030"+) I plan on trying the Berger bullet seating test next time out. But you've had good luck with them close or touching? Thanks

.020 off the lands should work for you.

We'll see how close that seating depth works out to when I try the RDF's using Bergers seating test. Thanks

Yeah I read the same thing about the 308 RDF's and guess what. the groups didn't shrink til i was .005 off the lands. I cant was about the 6.5's but the 308's refuse to jump in my experience. But once you find the proper seat depth, they are a stunningly accurate bullet and th eBC claim is correct. they require less elevation to get to 1000 yards with the same or even slower velocity.

Since I have to work Friday night (And miss out on Coalinga shooting school) maybe I'll hit the range on Sunday to try and find the correct seating depth for the 140gr RDF's.

Don't be surprised when the groups don't change much in .005" steps forward until you are at .005" off the lands. I also tried them at mag length and no luck. huge 2.5" groups then .005 off the lands and the group goes from 2.5 to .5 just like that. again this is the rdf in 308 though. I'd like to hear how the 6.5 works out.

Not sure yet, hope to try them again this Sunday. If not then I'll have to wait until next week. I'll keep you posted.

I had pretty good luck with them out of my 6.5cm AR. They held MOA out to 1k yards. I was running asc mags and was able to seat them out to 2.850 overall.

It's looking like the RDF 140gr bullet likes to be seated closer to the lands than I had been reading from some other posts. Will have to do a little more testing the next time out. I preformed the Berger seating test and it looks like between touching and .015" jump. I'll test 4 groups of 10 shoots each (touching,-.005",-.010",and -.015") to see which works better and get back with the results.

i tried the RDFs in my first 6.5x47 barrel both 130s and 140s and neither one would shoot consistently...the 140g ELDMs shot lights out but because of the long bearing surface and short freebore of my reamer i could not get much velocity out of them.

i see a lot of mixed reviews with the RDFs either love em or hate em.

Yeah I’m not a fan. I’m tired of not being able to load mag length. SMK’s can do it all day long, so do Berger VLD’s but I’ll burn up what I have and start stockpiling Sierra’s

Yep after extensive testing with the 140gr RDF's IMO they suck. They just do not shoot as well as my other loads. Too hard to MAKE shoot and I've wasted enough of my time, barrel life and money on them. I have three other bullet makes that shoot very well and that's plenty (if not too many) to choose from. Even Hornady 140gr HPBT beats out the Nosler RDF's. I'm done with the RDF's!!
