    380 Loaders question

Just wondering if there are a lot of loaders here that do 380. I’m using 231 with 100 gr RNFP EXTREME and dropping in 2.4gr of powder. I’m happy with the results but wondering as I haven’t tried other powders, am I missing out on something? I only have the SIG 238 and SIG 238HD. Wife has the SIG 238 also and a Bursa FireStorm(that she’s NOT HAPPY WITH)

I've tried tightgroup,, be-86 and cfe pistol... The cfe pistol was more accurate at higher velocity's and had a smoother recoil impluse ... Tightgroup and be-86 were more snappy at higher loads... I was using 90gr xtp's and 95gr plated... Ladders at .02 in workup min to max..
    Cheers...

Plated bullets do not have the consistency of a real FMJ or a straight cast bullet. The people who make these darn things, who always seem to make a decent cast bullet, will tell you same about consistency. The manufactures will use words such as, 'almost', 'can't really tell' and 'maybe a little bit'.

Pistol bullets with a bearing surface such as with a 230 or 158 you might get away with it. As for 100 grainer in thirty-five caliber, Good Luck.

I use Montana's 121 grain with Bullseye or W231. Sorry, I don't quote powder weight. And cartridge over all length you will have to adjust to your pistols liking. And always use a case gauge with .380acp.

A heavier than common bullet for the .380acp cartridge equates to blasphemy in the usual holy reloading spirit book. Velocity screams downrange at about 780 fps. This load cycles the slide reliably, locks the slide back and doesn't seem to sting the WKRP out of my hands like the 100 grainers that come stock with Federal.

I've used Clays, Universal, CFE, Tightgroup and Autocomp. 100 grain bullet. All loads were satisfactory. I'm sorry, but one load is the same an another for me. I do try to keep a minimum number of powders in the garage and usually go for the ones that can load many different rounds. I load 380, 38, 357, 44, 45ACP and 45colt with one powder, CFE.
