    RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool?

I've used the RCBS had priming tool #90200 with round tray for five years now with great results. Lately The Pivot Link Assy(The part that fits between the handle and the main body) slips out to one side and binds from its home location in the handle. It seems to be wearing out the pot metal.
My question to those that have used this older model that needs the shell, holder that fits on top of Blk/Wht plastic prime feeders.
Is the new Universal Tool #90201 all that, and not requiring
a shell holder, has that caused and issue?
    Pros/Cons?

    Thanks

    RCBS will make it good.

I tried that machine some years back, didn't like it.

I have 2 Round tray RCBS auto primers and 3 Lee with Lee single primers; I also have the type that bolt to the bench from three different manufacturers. And parts, I have parts for most of them; I also have Federal primer tray sleeves that are cut to allow dumping primers from the big tray to the small round trays 25 at a time.

I have no reason to upgrade, at one time I had to modify shell holders to fit different primer systems. After I caught up shell holders were no longer a problem.

A few extra parts: At one time reloaders were trying to get rid of the half moon dent on primers, once I convinced them the problem did not involve 'parts' the reloaders gave me the extra parts.

I guess I need to rephrase the question, keeping it short and sweet.

I have and use the RCBS hand priming tool #90200 with round tray.

Is the new RCBS Universal Tool #90201 with square tray that requires no
        shell holder a better mousetrap?

I have had the square primer holder one for about 4 years and really like it a lot. Primed maybe 10K so far in that time. No problems at all, works well and without using shell holders is a bonus for me since I reload on (4) Square Deal B's, which have no shell holders.
          I say git one!

I have had and used both tools. The universal is better than the older one that used shell holders IMO.
Smoother operation. I also had issues with binding on the older model, I felt like I had to tweek it constantly to keep it working right.

I use the new RCBS tool. Works well for what I load (308, 223, 300BO.)

Never used the old one, so can't compare. I will say the RCBS is a hell of a lot better than the Hornady tool.

I have that tool and the Hornady. I prefer the Hornady; it's more precise & the seater plugs don't distort the primers. But both RCBS and Hornady have great customer service. Hornady sent me an upgraded tool at no charge.

The issue i had with the newer tool was that it seemed to only come with the small primer tool. I had 2, one black and one metallic color. both were the same size. I used it to prime LRP and it kept leaving "crescent" marks on my primer.

So i just purchased the older one with the shell holder. Seems both hand priming tool isn't perfectly vertical and i'm still getting crooked primers. But at least without the crescent marks.

Interesting. I have mangled primers with both (usually from a primer sitting edge up rather than upside-down or trying to reprime a crimped pocket), but never deformed a primer from regular seating.

I may need to try the red tool again to compare (though it will take a bit to convince me to change back, I think.)
