I call BS! Maybe one or two shops are but, bussinesses are in the game to turn over product not sit on it! Just think about how much they would have to invest and how long they would have to sit on it to make it "profitable." Yea, they could buy $5000 worth of ammo and stick it away for a year. If they are lucky, they could sell it for $10000! That would be a 100% profit. Now, if they were a normal bussiness, they would buy $5000 worth of ammo, mark it up 25% and sell it for $6250. In todays market, they could probably do this twice a month! So, they can sit on some ammo and make $5000 in a year or they can stay in bussiness and make $15000 a year with the same investment. Hummmm, I know not all gunshop owners are members of Mensa but, I doubt many of them are that stupid.

Those gunshop owners would just drive people to buying everything online. Consumers would be mighty P.O.'d & probably boycott those gun stores. I would!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I have a buddy who owns a shop, and he can hardly find ammo and when
he does its sold before the UPS driver leaves.

I don't really understand the ammo buying frenzy right now, but it doesn't appear to stop ending anytime soon.

The reason for the continued frenzy is the fact that the current
Administration is not very gun friendly and if you couple that with the blunders
of the last Administration........we have the making of a 2A Perfect Storm.

If nothing else the cost will become prohibitive, or registration and proof of
need for ammo and supplies will come into play.

Plainly put, nobody likes being told what to do so they are putting off the
                inevitable by stocking up/hoarding now.

Yep, Bad economy = more crime.

Anti-gun President = possible less guns to own.

                      Panic buying by the masses.

The reality is most gun owners prior to Obama did not keep alot of ammo on hand. Most people who own guns don't regularly shoot.

Now with Obama, these people who prior might have a box or two of ammo for their guns, suddenly have the need to buy ammo just in case.

Now, consider we now have new people also buying EBR's, and the supply can't meet the demand.

I notice that 12 guage and 22cal bulk packs are in supply at Wal Mart, but all the handgun ammo in 9mm, 40 cal and 45 cal is sold as fast as it arrives.

                      All the 223, 7.62 x 39, 7.62 x51, and 30-06 are also in short supply.

I would say the market will stablize since I don't expect the economy to turn around before 2011, most likely it won't happen before 2013, possibly 2017.

That's of course if the world doesn't end in 2012.

                      Nicki
