Extreme Rebel 17 Tumbler - Looks much better than Thumlers even!

I've been shopping around for a quality tumbler and decided on the Rebel 17.

I just had the BEST experience in buying a top shelf tumbler --apparently even better than Thumler's --see this review:

I bought it thru Stainless Tumbling Media.com for the best price I found at only $219 (vs most places $249.) and fast shipping. Trevor's customer service was super professional and polite!

Anyone have experience on the Rebel 17 or with any tips they can share about tumbling in general?

That's really cool. i'm curious how it compares to other wet tumblers, F.A.R.T. and the cheapo Harbor Freight one i use.

ive had a rebel 17 for about 5 years it runs at least twice a month usually 3 times a month and its still going strong with the same pins it came with...i normally tumble between 100 and 250 6 creedmoor/6.5x47 size cases at a time.

Ah Great to hear. Being that I do some lapidary I'm probably going to use it for stones too...

Question tho I got Lemi-Shine and Steel Media coming too... Anything else I need? Like is a magnet separator necessary?

Since I'm in an apartment I'm going got have to build a noise baffling box else risk the noise driving me nuts.

The Extreme may be a great tumbler, but he is doing an unfair comparison. That's not the Thumler I have, with the drum that has six wingnuts holding the lid on and a heavier motor.

I have both. They both use the same motor. The earlier thumlers like I have, came with the weaker motor. I upgraded mine last year.
Had to replace all the bushings on my thumler. But I use it a lot.
When my thumler wears out again, I will make the Rebel my primary. It's just built better.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

As I said I’ve been SS tumbling for over 5 years all I load for is precision rifle no pistol and I can tell you that the biggest thing(IMHO)I see/hear ppl doing that causes issues is tumbling the brass to long...if you tumble the brass to long it becomes TO clean INSIDE the necks.

I only tumble my brass for 1 hour no matter how many pieces...the outside is BLING CLEAN the inside has a tan/brownish color left.

I have tried a lot of different products, times and recipes and for me with 250pcs of 6.5x47 brass...

                1 table spoon orange Ajax
                1/4 teaspoon lemishine
                COLD WATER
                tumble 1 hr

                A couple of tips...
If you have a lot of suds in your drum after tumbling to much soap...adjust

If you have weird spots on your brass(not water spots)to much lemishine...adjust

If your brass is coming out kinda dull on the outside you need to rinse your pins and drum...if tumbling rifle brass get a separator it makes things easier plus your pins are cleaned every time.
Wow! Thanks for taking the time to help! This is great... That's what I'll be reloading for too ('precision rifle no pistol' --specifically 300 Win Mag) Looking into a separator now!

I can get the Frankford on Amazon w/ free shipping for $39.

Shipping on the STM one brings it to $43. but since I like the handles on STM better and I'd prefer supporting the little guy.. so that's my choice!

Thanks for help me out guys!

I LOVE this forum. Best people on the planet.

HUGE kudos to those who folks at stainless tumbling media. I have their rebel 17 tumbler and its about 7 years old now. 4 years into it the rubber sleeves were slipping and they sent me replacements no questions asked.

this year my inner rubber sleeve got a cut and i emailed about buying a new sleeve and trevor said whats your address ill send a replacement.

a week later i had a brand spanking new tumbler (can liner top all!) this was outside their warranty so if it breaks i have no hesitation on buying a new one.

I ran this tumbler every day darn near 12 hours a day for a month straight on top of normal once a week use and its still going strong. To preveent sleeve slippage on multiple series of tumbles (simetimes water gets under the sleeve) is to put a small bit of silicone where the rubber meets the steel and the gaps. haven't had an issue in a few months now.
primer, powder, projecile, press, load, fire repeat!
