    CCI Blazer vs. CCI Mini-Mag

Okay this is kind of amusing to me. The Blazer cost $1.69 a box 50 or 16.90 a brick of 500 50 X 10 boxes Mini-Mags are roughly $6.99 a box of a 100 which is what I paid for both kinds of ammo.

They are both Round Nosed and both are rated at 1235 fps. Mini's are CPRN compared to Blazers LRN.

    Mini-Mag

    Blazer

I have not compared them both yet as far as using them side by side. But according to stats given for the Blazer it seems to be a better round over the Mini-Mag. So what gives? Blazer is about half of the cost of Mini-Mag and is better accordig to data recorded by the manafaturer.

Only reason I bought Mini-Mag is for the simple reason that the original owner of the Dedicated .22 Upper I bought for my AR said it was a round it really liked. I canot wait to see how the Blazer does compared to the Mini-Mag once i get my scope sighted in.

That is the end of my premature rant for now, feel free to chime in with your experiences using either of the 2 rounds described.

One of the main things that differentiates cheap .22lr from premium .22lr is how evenly the primer compound is spread throughout the rim. It might have something to do with that.

I guess, we'll see this weekend So far Mini-Mag has not had any problems shooting out of both my Walther P22 and CZ/DPMS AR Upper

My Ruger MKII HATED anything but the mini mags. It'd jam and stovepipe and cause all sorts of trouble if I used anything but the orange box of mini mags.

I recently replaced the extractor and spring with Volq parts and fired a hundred rounds of thirty year old crappy tarnished green cased thunderbolt ammo through it without a cleaning and it went without a hitch. I'm happy I can be back in cheap ammo now! Bulk boxes, here I come!

I have both. Shoot both out of a Ruger 10/22, Mk III Hunter and marlin 981t.
I prefer the mini-mags. I think they group slightly better. No issues with feeding either of them. I say just stick with what your gun shoots best.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys My AR likes just about everything I have fed it so far. I went out and bought 2,500 rounds of Mini-Mag and I still have a lot left. I was also given another 500 Mini-Mags as a B-Day present by my family. So needless to say I have a few bucks invested into a higher grade round that I do not want to use. I think I have about 2,400 left and might just try and sell off so I can get the lesser stuff. But I will not know until I get a good chance to shoot a 100 Blazer bore snake it, shoot 100 Mini-Mags and compare the outcome.

The mini-mags are of a higher quality, in my opinion. I have fired thousands of rounds of them since I was kid. I also shoot tons of the CCI Blazer stuff. I bought A LOT of it when you could get them for 10 bucks a brick at Midway. Both are good rounds....

                Both are good

Both are very good, but the Minimags are a bit cleaner since they are plated. For finicky guns (e.g., a new Walther P22 during the break-in period) the Blazer make a nice cheap alternative to the Minimags.

                  Try ANY P22 ANYTIME!
Mine is horrible and only will eat mini-mags. Sort of killed the idea of having a gun that shoots .22 IMO
I don't know about you guys but the whole reason I wanted one was to be able to shoot cheap .22 ammo. Mine is sitting in the safe since I refuse to purchase expensive ammo for it. My 10/22 shoots any cheap .22 ammo so should that POS P22.

My P22 shoots everything I have thrown at her so far. Win Wild Cats, Rem T-Bolts, CCI Mini-Mags, and Rem 36 GRN Brass Plated Bulk as well. Have you broken in your P22 all the way yet? Not sure how many rounds it is supposed to go through for break in.
