    308 resizing question

I have heard, if a case is fire formed I.e. shot from a rifle. The case is fire formed to the chamber and doesn't need resizing? Only need trim and neck Re size?
    Thoughts?
Ar platform. Only will be used in one gun.

Somewhat true on a bolt gun; some neck size in that instance, though eventually full-length sizing will be required. On an AR, that technique isn't an option.

Ugh. So... The case will need fl and neck sized?

No, just FL resize. This sizes the neck as well in one step.

Yes, for an AR you FL size, but FL sizing automagically takes care of neck sizing at the same time. They're not separate steps.

Ok. So I guess I will be getting the rcbs vs the reddings

Most manufacturers sell FL sizing dies, Redding included.

                You heard wrong.
Autoloading firearms always need the brass to be resized before it is reloaded.

Fire formed brass is about .001” smaller than the chamber. It needs to be about .004” smaller in order to feed reliably.

I use FL dies for auto but some chambers are tighter so you may have to use a small base die.

I ordered a set of rcbs dies. Will see if it chambers in the jp.
Thanks all for the Intel. I reload for 223. I resize, full length, neck resize, and trim. I had heard about only resizing the necks but I see its for bolt not semi.
