it takes large rifle primers and .30 cal bullets 7.62 but they need to be round nose there for the 30-30 only. good books would be speer or nosler or lee has a good starter book.

        .308 bullets.

Pointed bullets work fine if you don't use them in a lever gun.

RCBS Reloading Manual is very good, I'm not sure what is the latest edition. If it has Ramshot and Vitha Vourri Oy powders it should be late enough to learn on.

basically, i should get some flat nose or round nose .30 cal bullets for the 30-30. i guess i should look into switching over to 308 then. that way, i can use the same bullet for 30-30 and 308.

            hrmm.....what do i do with a 30-06 rifles then??

.308" diameter jacketed RN/RNFP 150gr or 170gr are the most common for use in the 30WCF (30/30). These same bullets can be used in .300Savage, .308Win, 30/06, 300WM, 300Wby, etc... However they will not provide the best long range performance because of their shape and for hunting their impact velocities should be limited since they could come apart.

I keep some 170gr RNFP for my 30WCF's and have 150-180gr PSP for everything else.

You forgot to mention the Hornaday Leverevolution Bullets with the soft polymer tip for tubular Lever Action magazines?
