    Small primer 308 Winchester cases?

I noticed Starline Brass offers small primer 308 cases.

The .308 Match is our small primer version of the .308 Winchester case. Many competitive shooters prefer the consistent velocities produced by small rifle primers. Like all of our other small primer rifle cases, we utilize our standard .080" flash hole diameter, as we feel it gives better ignition with slower burning and harder to ignite powders, making it more user friendly than many of the small primer/small flash hole versions of this caliber.
Does small primer 308 cases give more consistent velocities than large primer cases?

Bud of mine said it did, and when it got cold, he got misfires.

      .

Lapua offers 308 cases with small rifle primer pockets but these are designed for a Palma rifle and I know folks who swear by it.

If you reload 308 and 223, I can see the benefit of standardizing your primer stash. Now, whether you realize the claimed benefit of a small rifle primer or not, that's for you to load and test

The biggest draw back is like the 45 small primers .
If like me you pick up and use range brass , when you find
one , you have to check rest of that batch when repriming .

              Everyone should buy their brass!

(leaving me to buy all the Federal 210M primers I can find )

Federal primers would not be in short supply if you guys would stop drinking the Koolaid.

From testing that I've seen, loads with wolf primers produce lower SD's.

I personally don't put much value in what a primer does other than ignite the charge.

I am not a fan of small primers , but I do use mostly magnum ones .
10 powders and 9 are ball . I ended up with regular and br the last
shortage , so I still have some left .

I wish I had seen this post before I got a box of .260 Lapua brass. Looking at Peterson brass, they make small primer .260 which I wanted to try out, but didn't want to bother with necking down the .308 Palma brass.

Peterson makes good stuff. I have in my possession over 42K worth of their brass in three calibers, All of which have been significantly better than Lapua quality out of the box
Here's my latest investment 1000 308 match LR primer pocket.
Cheep too. $.44 per case when bought in bulk Lapua is still $.75 per case in .308

If I could only find some good but less expensive .416 Rigby??? $2.50 per case is a bit much

Alpha munitions sells SRP .260 brass. I'm about to buy a batch for my .260. I'll let you know how they compare.

That can be your opinion. They aren't owned by remington.

And we will leave it at that
