I have a Lee Universal decapping die and I've already gone thorough 3 replacement pins decapping crimped, sealed 5.56 brass. Is there a tougher universal decapper that won't bend/break with crimped, sealed brass?

If you are using a progressive, I think you are bound to break those pins.Comment

I / we have broken so many that I was buying [ lee
only charges S/H ] 3 at a time .
Last week we broke 2 more and I ordered 2 RCBS dies ,
then I heard about mighty armory decap .
I ordered one of them too . Bottle necks are decapped on
press , then sized before cleaning
History wise , we load 15 calibers [ problems mainly with
the 45 ACP , 223 and 308 ] and the press can not index
right , have a hard stacked primer , flash hole off or even
a rock in case .
3 more tool heads came today for loadmaster , so I replaced
one broken one [ decapper ] and am watching for another
223 and 308 sizing dies - I have spare 45's .life member - CRPA and NRA

3 pack Heat Treated decapping pin upgrade for Lee 90783 / 90292 helps to reduce broken pins when alignment is less than perfect.
broke quite a few so i upgraded to the hardened steel pins. so far ive done 5k crimped 556 and 2.5k crimped 308 with about 7k random other peices of uncrimped brass. I dont think its possible to break it... ive hit berdan and the rod backed out but didnt budge the pin.primer, powder, projecile, press, load, fire repeat!Comment

I bought 3 RCBS and a Mighty Armory one . If they break
I will try a squirrel daddy . I bookmarked it .
I ended up buying 3 more tool heads for loadmaster .
Breaking a pin and having to stop because you have no spare
sucks .
I would suggest at least one spare set up .
I use all 5 die holes in the load master tool head , so I had spare

Oh really why?
After loading and depriming 10 of thousands of rounds/case of progressive machines, I've never noticed them to be hard on depriming dies.
Also if you set up the Lee depriming die correctly the pin should slide up when you hit a tough primer. Every once in a while I hit a berdan primed case. The pin just slides up.If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.Comment

I use a Lee decapping die with my single stage. I haven't bent that de-priming spindle after processing more than 10k of 223 brass and about 2k of 30-06 and 308.Comment

Nice to see there are strong pins available.
I've sometimes deprimed 2-3,000 primed cases in one sitting from time to time (done well over 10,000 at this point) and never had a pin bend or break. I do have extras just in case.
I did have to reseat the pin as the crimped primers had pushed the pin back a bit but that's it.Originally posted by longrange1my gun shoots better with shiny brass...plus not only does the shiny brass make me look like a pimp at the range if the sun catches it just right it blinds the guy next to me which improves my odds of winning the match.Originally posted by XDJYoFull size.
