    300wm - 208gr or 210gr bullets with re-23

Anyone try 208gr or 210gr bullets with reloader-23? I have 208gr eld-m bullets to be exact.

I was looking for some start and max loads. I wanted to see what everyone was using.

Most of the time when I start a load my coal is 3.530" to 3.550" (.030" to .010" off the lands)

any help with rl-23 and 208gr (or 210gr) bullets would be great.

    I do ladder test too.

    Thank you

I use 208gr ELD-M bullets and load RL-22 for 72.5gr. This is with new, Nosler brass and Federal 215 primers.

I've yet to test velocity, but it groups consistently well in the .3"s-.4"s (5 shots). I load them ridiculously long (compared to factory) but don't know off the top of my head the COAL.

i shot the 208g match and 210g SMKs with RL-22 through 3 barrels in a 300wm...i used a little more powder than KV also with nosler brass and CCI250s.

the 208s were good to about 1500yds give or take and the 210s shot a bit better at all distances and really shined at 1500+ and they transitioned better from super sonic...the 208s did all sorts of strange things when transitioning.

if your only shooting to a 1000yds or so the 208s will work just fine if you want a little better shooting bullet and plan to shoot way out the 210s will shoot better.

What BC did you end up with for the 210SMK vs the 208? And what twist are you running?

I may have to reload a little hotter especially since; Nosler brass yields a bit more case volume than others and I see no signs of pressure being an issue.

i had real good luck with nosler in my 260 and the 300...as far as loading hot...ive only shot 1 barrel in 260 that i was not quite a bit over book max.
the only REAL way to know how over you are is with strain test equipment...if my primers are not flat and i dont have a real sticky bolt i figure im good...or thats what all the old timers say LOL.

No sticky bolt, no flattened primers here!

Since I just went through the last of my RL22 (received it free), I'm now going to load develop with the stockpiled H1000 I have.

Was surprised to find in my manuals, and online, that when going from RL22 to H1000 the powder increase is an average 5gr.

Oh and COAL is 3.6515", forget what it measures out to the ogive.

yep...the reloader powders are double base powders which is good and bad.

good because they make more velocity with less pressure
bad because of temp sensitivity which i personally never seen the huge swings ive read about and i shot a truck load of RL-17 and RL-22...from 25 to 90deg i only seen about 25fps which is about 5" at 1000yds...most ppl can not hold 5" at 1000yds.

youll like the H1000 its a great powder and easy to find good loads with.
