Yeah, 'cause your time is FREE, right? LOL
Actually, you would see a good savings. 1K plinker rounds of .223 is costing me about $175 right now. That's about $3.50 per 20.
The better the bullets, the greater the price. Nosler Balliastic Tip 50grn .223 is costing me about $6.33 per 20, or $316 per 1K.

How much do you get paid for watching TV?
How much do you get paid for sleeping?
How much do you get paid for eating?
How much do you get paid for sitting on the toilet?
How much do you get paid for showering?
You will be losing the same amount of money per hour by reloading that you would have been getting paid while doing those other tasks above.Randall Rausch

The current best price on brass case is Prvi 55gr, at $380/1k, from http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/223-556-ammo.php - oops, never mind, they had it earlier and it's gone now. I should have placed an order when I was there.
If you don't mind Wolf, Ammoman has it for $300/1k shipped.
Otherwise, keep an eye on the ammo deals thread at arfcom - check the last page of the top stickied thread:

Gotta jump on it when it's in stock, though, as it gets bought up pretty quickly.sigpic

One of the things that I'll be looking for at the Big Reno show is a 1K of 223. I believe MIWALL will be there but what kind of ammo do they sell? Is it their own stuff or do they (or others) have Wolf, Partizan, etc? Are show prices (not including gas, admission, hotel) comparable to decent online "deals" or is the internet still the "best" place to purchase bulk?Last edited by strega7; 03-17-2009, 7:44 PM.sigpic

If you're planning on using an AR for that carbine course stay away from 5.56mm Wolf. If you're using an AK/Saiga well, rock on!
Hell, this post election frenzy makes even reloading expensive. I can't find 8 lb. containers of my favorite powder. Buying a bunch of 1 lb. containers costs too much $$
