Is this for .308 win? Or any thirty caliber? A .308 win with a 225 grainer, if it will even fit compressed, will be lethargic. Then the twist rate of the barrel will have to match too.

The issue that you get is that what works best in the big 300s doesn't work the best in the 308 Win. The 155 Palma and the 175s work in the 308 Win but the 190s and 210s work better in the 300 Win mag.

If you are talking about just the 308 Win then you also have to choose what range you are talking about. The 165s-168s work great until you get past 800 yards, while both the 155s and 175s will make it out to 1,000 yards, if you have enough barrel.

Yeah if money is no object Warner flatlines for sure.
If you want high accuracy and are willing to put up with picky seating depth the Nosler RDF’s are good but they need to be seated way out in the lands.

Unless you have a 32 inch barrel, people are using the 175 SMK. It has lots of drop but at 1000 yards so does every bullet.

Welcome to Calguns KCVPR, how far are you shooting?
Some might consider 200yds "long range".
Can you give us a little more info?
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Most here will probably tell you the 168 SMK will probably peter out about 800yds or so with a stick as long as yours.
I switched to the 175 SMK last year. I trim the metplat, sort them by weight.
I shoot 1K, and they do pretty well, Some here may get better results at longer distance, but I don't and shoot another caliber at longer distance.

You'll get some good info here, stay tuned...

In T/R, the 215s and 185 Jugs seem to be very good for those guys.

Berger seems to be the choice for the guys and gals that shoot competition. Their VLD bullets are very popular, something like 18 of the top 20 shooters used them last year in one category I was looking at. It was a class where .308 was the gun. I looked but couldn't find the article again. I thought it was over on accurateshooter.com
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Hmm, may have to try these Warner Flatline Bullets some time.

OP, you need to figure out your twist rate. I've got a 24" M24 contour barrel with 1:11.25" twist and it's perfect for a 175gr round. I wouldn't dare use any of the 208gr projectiles even though I've got a ton of those; they're for my .300wm

Based on the twist, you can't go wrong with 175 SMK.
