    454 data

Looking for starting loads for 265gr LBT gc bullet for the 454 Casull , using either h4227 , or IMR4227. Are these two powders interchangeable ? Thanks for any info.

The LBT website lists data. Page nine and ten of the PDF from their website covers that. The data below is copied from that PDF. IMHO the formatting of the PDF is poor, so read twice, load once.

"Here are a few loads for the 265grn bullet.
    H4227 powder
    22grns 1090fps 23.5grns 1300fps 29,800cup
    H-110 powder
    23.5grns 1350fps 24grns 1380fps 30,000cup
    Lil'Gun
    19grns 1196fps 21grns 1300fps 29,600cup
    Titegroup
    8grns 950fps 9.3grns 1060fps 28,800cup"

The new Hodgdon 2018 manual list that bullet only with Trail Boss, so a low power load.

The 50th Ed. of Lyman lists a 255 grain bullet using the following powders: Unique, Accurate #9, 2400, N110, Enforcer, H110, 296, IMR-4227, and 1680.

The Lee 2nd Ed. Revised lists the 265 grain bullet with True Blue powder. It also list a 270 grain lead bullet with Unique and Power Pistol. and a 255 Grain with Accurate 5744.

If you were referring to the older H4227, the burn rate is close and it was recommended for .454 reloading, but all I could find was jacketed bullet data and 300 gr+ lead loadings. Did you mean H322? That powder is a bit slow.

H4227 is no longer available under the Hodgdon label, but imr4227 is really h4227 relabeled. H4227 was made in Australia, true IMR was made in Canada. The IMR was more popular so Hodgdon did a little slight of hand when they bought IMR
