    Lyman Trimmer Won't Hold Cases

I'm getting rather irritated at this point. I have the lyman universal case trimmer (hand crank) The thing is horrible. The teflon liner is falling out of the cutting side, making it impossible to set the stops so I have to measure and trim each case multiple times. But now i've finally had it:

The holding side of the case trimmer won't hold the brass? I rotate the holder, and its supposed to squeeze the case with the spring loaded holder doo-dads, but it just pops out. The cases just pop out of the holder. Pretty much rendering my reloading efforts KIA. Anyone know whats up? This equipment is brand freaking new, and i'm NOT pleased

Mine would spin untill I took the little screw out so it would'nt limit the turn, thus making it hold tighter. This was with .223 brass. Larger calibers work fine.
Maybe yours could use the extra tightening?

Correct , the one that you hold to turn after placing the brass in.

It limits the turn on mine, and I couldn't stop them from turning.

I'm thinking about buying the lyman power trimmer from natchez. It's about $15.00. Should speed thinks up. May it will work better than the crank and you won't have to measure each one.

You will still have to do the initial measurement each time you change case length, but once you have it set your good to go. I am getting the same attachment for my trimmer so I can trim cases alot more effortlessly.

I did the same thing back when I used the upright model on my drill press to trim.
