For that extra brass you keep accumulating...

I'm fortunate enough that I have people, even RSO's, collect brass for me and give it to me on the days I go out to shoot.

With that being said, I end up with a lot of brass I could use, but don't.

I shoot for precision, so naturally I either use new brass or brass that's only been fired from said rifle.

Do you guys use other people's once fired brass (even when you specifically shoot for precision)?

Traded over 300 pieces of .308 2 weeks ago, and I'm up to 425 pieces of .308 again (Hornady/Winchester/PPU/GFL)

I don't shoot competitions, but do like to shoot for precision with my rifles. Name brand once fired brass works out great for me. Once fired brass still has lots of life left. With that said, I do buy new when I see them for a great price.

I don't use range pick-ups since I don't know the history of that brass.

But it seems like you like trading brass so stock-up and trade it

I shoot 9mm handgun so use the brass my buddy's and I use at the range, I've got some range brass in there for sure, but I do inspect every piece after cleaning for cracks / bends before running it.
          while (bullets > 0 && target == 1){fire == 1;}

Is there a way to tell if range brass is "once fired?" Inquisitive minds want to know!

I've shot range pick ups in .223 out of my gas gun, but it gets full-length sized/etc.

I'm talking .308, 6.5cm, .243, or other calibers you'd want to be precise with.

I know it is once fired when I see the people opening the new boxes. Then I ask if they save the brass. Some do but the ones who do not usually are happy to let me have it. Especially when I let them shoot one of my firearms----like a 50bmg
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

usually the primer still has the sealant on it.

I keep all the 308 brass I can get, if its free or cheap.
I keep it in freezer bags separated by headstamp.
when it out grows the bag I put it in a 2 gallon bucket.

headstamps I don't use I trade or sell cheap.

I don't shoot competition but I do use only same headstamp for certain rifles.

I'm in NorCal, so not in competition for your brass! :-)

Which headstamps do you favor in 308?

I use Federal even though others have stated it's soft.

PPU and GFL seems like brass I can set aside but there's some Hornady and Winchester mixed in my piles.

May just trade it off; wanted to see if others have bothered whipping up loads for several types of brass. Seems like a pain, but the brass is free.

If you find a good load in a certain headstamp, just stick with it unless you're only getting a few reloads. I only get about 3-5 reloads with Federal 308 brass before primer pockets start to loosen. Hornady and winchester will go 10+.

I don't own a 308, but will be using the brass to make .45 acp shotshell ammo: )

The only .308 I really shoot is my FAL, which is a 3 MOA battle rifle on a good day. I wouldn't shoot anything else but range brass lol.
PM me if you want rid of that brass. Maube we can trade.
