Keep your 2016-17 ammo receipts available

I went to WalMart this week to get copies of old receipts for shotgun shells that I bought in July 2016 when they had a big blowout. I bought 400+ boxes at $3.50 each in several different transactions.

They will print them if you have the exact date and the credit card info.

I will keep these receipts when I am travelling back from out-of-state just in case I get challenged on the amount of shells I have with me.

Maybe its just me but I thought you were presumed innocent until proven guilty ?
Isn't the the burden of proof bore on the accuser? Maybe not in the State of California!
I don't want to be the one to test this but will be watching closely to see how this plays out because the state has know way to prove when or how you purchased ammo in the past.

For me it is mostly a preventative measure. I am trying to avoid getting the violation. Once the ticket is written, it becomes a problem for the accused in terms of time, travel, money to get it absolved.

If rare chance it became an issue coming back into the State, I am hoping that this will avoid the issuance and potential confiscation.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

            Have old receipt.
            Travel out of state.
Buy exact brand and number of boxes on receipt.
            Travel back into California.
            BRILLIANT!

I have receipts for 10,000+ rounds of shotgun shells over many separate purchases. It is not unreasonable to think that I MIGHT still have some of that ammo still in my possession in 5+ years.

The WalMart receipts don't even list the brand or or exact qty of shells.

Probably should save all your old empty ammo boxes to run that scam. Refill them with the new ammo and ditch the new boxes so the lot numbers on them can't be used to confirm that the new ammo was manufactured after the dates on the receipts.

Are we talking about proving our compliance with the law here, or are we discussing ways to avoid detection while violating the law?

                      Consider your answer carefully.

So how do you prove or comply if you are a reloader

All of the attention is currently focused on new ammunition but what if you plan on reloading lots of ammo. I think its going to become much more popular economically to reload. Since there is no restriction on mail ordering all the components and there is no registration process or background checks for that matter in the future.
I am planning on stocking up on reloading supplies just for this reason but it beats the heck out of me how I prove where it came from if I get pulled over coming back into the State.

In California, you are guilty until proven wealthy or an oppressed minority.

We always take cases of bird shot and steel shoot to hunt in Arizona. We always come back with a lot of it.
