Please recommend a good value digital reloading scale

Hi, i have a small lyman battery powered scale and it's quite erratic in its readings and tends to drift despite new batteries, stable placement, no wind/drifts. I frequently tare and test with standard weight etc.

So time to replace it. Wondering which models you've had good luck with (or even which models to stay away from).

I prefer to keep it under $100 if at all possible. Digital electronic is easier for my mature eyes.

    Thanks

I've had this on my bench for years...no complaints.

      Hello,

      Couple or questions.
      1. For Pistol - Rifle - Both
      2. Single stage press or progressive?
      3. For Setup and Random Checks or Weigh every charge?

      I use 2 scales
      Pistol
      1. 10 year old "Blue" Dillon 0.0 read out. About $100.00
      2. Random Checks.

      Rifle & Initial Progressive Setup
      1. Sartorius 0.000 read out. About $1100.00
      2. For Power Change and Initial Load Setup - Dillon 550s & 650s.
      3. Every charge (100%) precision rifle - Bench Rest

If time is not an issue and you weigh every charge then $100 scale is OK. Otherwise you might want to wait and budget for a $200 - $400 scale.

      My thoughts.

          Here is what I use.
American Weigh Scales GEMINI-20 Portable MilliGram Scale, 20 by 0.001 G

Comes with calibration weight and has .02 grain resolution.
          About $20.00 on Amazon.
Don't let the price deter you.

I've used it for several years now and is accurate.

I have been using the little Frankfort arsenal scale, similar to the Gemini, for over five years now and still works great.

My Dillion digital scale did not make it past a couple years. I bought a RCBS chargemaster and love it. That not being under $100.

I'd go with an RCBS one. Mail in rebate with this one puts you about 100

I got the same scale from Amazon and saved shipping.

I really prefer a scale that can be run on AC as opposed to batteries

I have a small Lyman 1500. It also drifts with batteries, even with new batteries. I found that if I use the ac plug instead of the batteries it does not drift and is actually quite accurate.

Try that first and see what happens.

I have the Ballistiscale from BPI. 1/10 grain accuracy and I've checked it throughout it's range. It's never wandered. Miligram accuracy or readout on a reloading bench without a contained weighing platform is largely for show IMHO.

But for trickling to a set point I prefer a beam scale. I find the response time on digital to be a bit lacking and a bit of hysteresis. To simply weigh an unknown or even suspected quantity, I prefer the digital.

I weigh every charge and use the Cabelas scale. It can drift and when it does, it's obvious.

I take the pan off the scale to trickle and have gotten pretty good and knowing how much to add. I also have an RCBS beam scale but I found it slower and harder to use.
